Business Tycoons Accompany President Prabowo on State Visit to France

JAKARTA — A group of business tycoons accompanied President Prabowo Subianto on his state visit to France. This marks the third time the President has attended the Indonesia-France CEO Forum with President Emmanuel Macron.

Among the business leaders and company executives accompanying the President were Anindya Bakrie, James Riady, Garibaldi ‘Boy’ Thohir, Tony Wenas, and Rosan Roeslani.

The visit also saw the official launch of the France-Indonesia High Level Business Council (FI-HLBC), a collaboration between MEDEF International (MEDEF-I) and KADIN (Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry).

“The business council established by KADIN Indonesia and MEDEF International will serve as a platform to strengthen trade, facilitate investment, and identify long-term economic cooperation opportunities across key sectors,” according to Prabowo Subianto’s Instagram account on Friday (29 May 2026).

With a target of tripling bilateral trade by 2035, the FI-HLBC will drive the implementation of memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements, while strengthening the Indonesia-France economic corridor.

According to Anindya Bakrie’s social media account, the state visit is expected to further strengthen strategic ties between Indonesia and France.

“Indonesia-France relations are currently at their best, according to President Prabowo,” said Anin.

He added that the two countries share similar stances in various international forums and have collaborated in areas ranging from defence, science and technology to education.

“Moving forward, we hope for more concrete cooperation in agreed sectors, with trade and investment expected to grow rapidly. But not just growth — it will create jobs and improve human capital quality, driving progress and prosperity,” he said.
