The government has decided on a work-from-home (WFH) scheme for private sector employees to save energy. Representatives from labour and business groups have agreed to support this directive.

Member of the National Tripartite Cooperation Forum (LKS) from the labour side, Carlos Rajagukguk, expressed gratitude for this directive. He hopes that the WFH policy will not reduce workers’ rights.

“We hope that the WFH policy in every company does not reduce the rights of workers/labourers in their workplace,” he stated during a press conference on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

He reminded that this could become a momentum for transforming work culture. Workers and business owners can collaborate.

“In addition, we hope that this national work culture transformation momentum can strengthen collaboration between labour unions/workers and business owners, as well as globally,” he said.

Meanwhile, Member of the National Tripartite Cooperation Forum (LKS) from the business side, Mira Sonia, views this directive as prioritising collaboration.

“We also see that this circular emphasises collaboration, that there must be discussions with workers/labourers in this regard,” she explained.

She also hopes that global conditions will improve. Thus, Indonesia can continue to grow.

“We hope these global conditions improve. We hope Indonesia continues to grow,” she stated.

Previously, the government had decided on a work-from-home (WFH) scheme for private sector employees. The government has urged companies to provide WFH for one working day per week.

“It is urged to implement WFH for workers or labourers for one working day in a week according to the company’s conditions, and the WFH working hours are regulated by the company,” said Minister of Manpower Yassierli on the same occasion.

Yassierli stated that the WFH directive for the private sector also does not reduce annual leave and monthly salaries.

“The implementation of WFH does not reduce annual leave,” he said.
