Business Inequality: World Bank Notes Dominance of Giant Corporations in Indonesia
Bisnis.com, JAKARTA — The World Bank has drawn attention to the phenomenon of inequality within Indonesia’s business ecosystem. This phenomenon is reflected in the way giant corporations, which have historically served as engines of economic growth, are increasingly dominating the market and squeezing out more productive new entrants.
In its Country Growth & Jobs Report: Indonesia, released at the end of January 2026, the World Bank revealed that only the top 5% of firms have consistently dominated the market in terms of sales over the past 31 years.
