Business Booms: UMKM Entrepreneurs Welcome Monas People's Bazaar Implementation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The People’s Bazaar in the National Monument (Monas) area has received a warm welcome from micro, small, and medium enterprise (UMKM) actors, who reported increased income and a special moment for sharing with the public amid the Eid atmosphere.
In a statement from the Press, Media, and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat received in Jakarta on Sunday, Fauzi, a bakso seller from West Jakarta, expressed his gratitude and joy at participating in the event held on Saturday (28/3).
“How should I put it, it’s extraordinary. This kind of thing is rare. Usually, orders come from government offices, but this is the first time for Mr Prabowo, it’s good. It really helps UMKM, very helpful,” said Fauzi.
He received an order to prepare more than 500 portions of bakso to be distributed for free to visitors. According to him, the event was a rare experience that also greatly assisted UMKM actors.
In addition, Fauzi explained that the prices of raw materials during this year’s Eid momentum were relatively stable and had not experienced significant increases.
“The ingredients are still stable. No price increases for this Eid yet. No price changes from the market,” he said.
The same sentiment was expressed by Megawati, a rendang UMKM actor from South Jakarta who also participated in the bazaar.
She admitted to receiving an order for 500 packages of nasi rendang but remained enthusiastic in fulfilling the demand despite time constraints and challenges in raw material availability.
Megawati also assessed that such bazaar activities greatly help UMKM actors, not only in terms of income but also in opening promotion opportunities for products. She hopes similar activities can continue in the future, including funding support for UMKM.
“Hopefully, we in UMKM can be helped with events like this, and in future events, funding support as well,” explained Megawati.
Meanwhile, Shela, a pempek seller from Bintaro, South Jakarta, also felt significant benefits from the event. She also appreciated the involvement of UMKM in the government-initiated activity.
According to her, the event is a tangible form of attention to small business actors.
“It’s very helpful for me, to turn over the capital again, yes. Additional capital again,” said Shela.
Shela, who feels she represents UMKM actors, also hopes that similar activities can be carried out sustainably.
In addition to providing economic impacts, the free People’s Bazaar is seen as a moment of togetherness between the government, business actors, and the community in celebrating Eid al-Fitr with a spirit of sharing.
“It embraces us small UMKM more. Not just the big ones. We need it, we don’t have big names like big restaurants yet, but we home-based UMKM need to be embraced like that. In a manner of speaking, small UMKM like us,” said Shela.
Previously, a People’s Bazaar was held in the National Monument area in Central Jakarta, initiated by President Prabowo Subianto on Saturday (28/3).
More than just economic transactions, the purpose of the People’s Bazaar is to bring deeper meaning, namely collaboration between the government, business actors, and the community in the spirit of sharing.
Thousands of portions of food distributed not only satisfy hunger but also strengthen the sense of togetherness in the Eid al-Fitr atmosphere.
