Bank Indonesia (BI) reports that the performance of business activities in the first quarter of 2026 is indicated to remain stable based on the results of the Business Activity Survey (SKDU).

Director of the BI Communication Department, Anton Pitono, explained that this is reflected, among other things, in the Weighted Net Balance (WNB) value of 10.11 per cent, although it was recorded lower than the fourth quarter of 2025 at 10.61 per cent.

In his statement in Jakarta on Friday, Anton stated:

“The performance of the majority of business fields (BF) was recorded as positive, sourced from the financial services BF, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries BF, processing industry BF, wholesale and retail trade BF, as well as motor vehicle and motorcycle repair BF,” said Anton in his statement on Friday, 17 April 2026.

He added that this development aligns with the increase in public demand during various National Religious Holidays (NRH) in the first quarter of 2026, including Chinese New Year, Nyepi Holy Day, the Ramadan period and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, as well as the start of the harvest season for agricultural commodities.

“The utilised production capacity in the first quarter of 2026 was recorded at 73.33 per cent, an increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2025 at 73.15 per cent,” said Anton.

The increase in production capacity was supported by the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries BF as well as the processing industry BF. Meanwhile, business finance was also reported to be in good condition, both in terms of liquidity and profitability, with easier access to credit.

Respondents predict that business activities in the second quarter of 2026 will increase with a WNB of 14.80 per cent, mainly sourced from the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries BF. Anton explained that this aligns with the continuation of the harvest season for food commodities.

“Then, the mining and quarrying BF supported by a decrease in rainfall, thus encouraging mining activities, as well as the construction BF in line with the start of work on several projects,” he said.
