Hometown team Persebaya was left to lick its wounds on Wednesday after Busan I' Park swept to a 3-0 victory here and snuffed out its hope of advancing to the next round in the Asian Champions League.
A goal from Lee Yung-hyo in the eighth minute began the visitors' victory run, followed by a header from Han Jae-won in the 39th minute.
Brazilian striker sealed the win with goal number three.
Persebaya, which had also lost its previous two matches, had a chance to salvage some pride three minutes from time when it was awarded a penalty, but Uston Nawawi's shot was parried away by Kim Yong-dae.
However, Busan coach Ian Porterfield offered some consolatory words. The former Chelsea manager said Persebaya showed it had the potential to compete with top teams from the region, especially as all its players were locals.
In another Group G encounter on Wednesday, Worawoot Srimaka scored the only goal to lead Vietnam's Hoalam Binh Dinh to a 1-0 win over Thailand's Krung Thai Bank, The Associated Press reported from Bangkok.
Worawoot scored on a penalty kick awarded in the 20th minute.
Two minutes before the end of the first half, Krung Thai had a scoring opportunity when Yuttana Chaikaew headed a pass from Theerachai Ngamcharoen, but the attempt was blocked by Vietnamese goalkeeper Tran Quoc Viet.
In a spiteful match, Binh Dinh's Le Minh Minh got a second card after knocking Rungroj Sawaangsri of Krung Thai to the ground in the 71st minute.
Rungroj was later sent off the field for intentionally kicking Binh Dinh's Nguyen Van Hien.
After four rounds of first round play, Busan leads Group G with 12 points, ahead of Krung Thai on six, Binh Dinh on four and Persebaya last with one.
