Commander of the Pulo Gebang Terminal Guard Unit (Danru TTPG) Badman Harahap stated that the terminal appeared quiet on H-1 before Eid compared to the previous days, which were still crowded with prospective passengers. “Up to this afternoon, the number of passengers recorded has decreased compared to H-7 to H-2 or Thursday (19/3),” said Badman when interviewed by ANTARA in the departure waiting room of TTPG on Friday afternoon. On Thursday (19/3), he continued, the number of prospective mudik travellers still reached around five thousand people, but on this Friday it dropped drastically to about 1,300 per 15:00 WIB. This decline was also accompanied by a reduction in the routes served. That situation directly impacted the operations of ticket sales counters inside the terminal. Many bus companies (PO) chose to close their services due to the low demand from prospective passengers. “It is evident that many bus counters have already closed for service today,” he said. Badman added that with the reduced departure activity, the terminal management will begin shifting the focus of services to the arrival flow (return flow) in the coming days. Officers will remain vigilant to anticipate the surge of passengers returning to Jakarta after celebrating Eid in their hometowns, in order to maintain smoothness and security in the terminal area.
