Ukraine has accused Russia of deliberately targeting civilians after 30 people were killed when two buses were blown up in the front-line city of Kramatorsk.

Russia attacked the buses in Kramatorsk, Ukraine, on Friday, 9 October 2026. The strike took place in the morning near a bus stop in the city, which lies on the front line of the war. Kramatorsk City Military Administration head Oleksandr Honcharenko accused Russia of deliberately targeting civilians.

The Kramatorsk attack came just one day after five young children were among 22 people killed when a Russian missile struck a five-storey apartment block in Pryluky, in the northern Chernihiv region.

The attacks took place amid an increase in Russian air strikes on various parts of Ukraine. The two countries remain engaged in a long-range air war, while ground troop movements along much of the front line have largely stalled.
