Bus plunges into river, one dead

CIAMIS, West Java: An unidentified woman died and three other
people were missing when a bus plunged into the Cimuntur River
along the Ciamis to Banjar road on Monday.

All 26 other passengers on the bus were injured, Antara
reported.

Driver Enceng Tajil, insisting he wasn't speeding, said the
steering wheel became stuck and he eventually lost control of the
vehicle. The Budiman bus then careened down the slippery
Batununggal slope before splashing into the river.

Local police, assisted by a number of soldiers from the local
military base, dragged the bus out and searched for the missing
passengers. (swe)
