Bus owners stage protests

BENGKULU, Bengkulu: Owners of buses from the province staged a
protest yesterday at the West Lampung office of the Land
Transportation and Traffic Control Agency over the seizure of
their vehicles' documents.

Agency officials confiscated their vehicle documents because
the Jakarta-bound buses did not have clearance from the Bengkulu
agency.

Antara news agency reported yesterday that the provincial
transportation office has sent a letter to Umpusinga, the regent
of West Lampung, saying that the confiscation of the bus
documents could not be justified.

He said all buses heading for Jakarta already have permits to
operate from the Directorate General of Land Transportation.
