Bus Driver Collapses and Dies While Driving Tourists in Slili Beach

A bus driver died during a return trip from Slili Beach, Pulegundes 1, Sidoharjo, Tepus, Gunungkidul. The driver collapsed while the bus was in motion.

The Head of the Tepus Police, AKP Suryanto, explained that the incident began when the victim, Didik Wahyu Setyanto (47), a resident of Purwoyoso, Ngaliyan, Semarang, Central Java, was driving a group from Batang, Central Java, to Slili Beach for a tour. Around 3:00 PM, the group began their return journey from the beach.

“During the return trip, at the intersection of Slili Beach, the victim suddenly collapsed to the left side (driver’s seat),” he said when contacted by reporters on Friday (May 15, 2026).

Fortunately, the bus was moving slowly at the time. The bus conductor immediately helped Didik and stopped the bus.

“The conductor and passengers then helped the victim out of the bus and immediately contacted the Tepus Police and Community Health Center,” he said.

In response to the report, police and medical personnel immediately went to the scene. However, Didik could not be saved.

“After an examination by officers from the Tepus 1 Community Health Center, the victim was pronounced dead and then taken to the Wonosari Regional General Hospital,” he said.

Regarding the cause of Didik’s death, Suryanto suspected it was due to an illness he had. Given the results of the examination at the Wonosari Regional General Hospital, no signs of violence or abuse were found on the victim’s body.

“We also communicated with the family to arrange for the victim to be picked up at the Wonosari Regional General Hospital,” he said.
