Bus Carrying 33 Passengers Hits Truck on Solo-Ngawi Toll Road, Stewardess Killed

Surabaya, CNN Indonesia – A collision between a truck and a bus occurred on the Solo-Ngawi Toll Road at KM 566 A, in Bangunrejo Kidul Village, Kedunggalar Subdistrict, Ngawi Regency, on Thursday (2/12). One person was reported dead.

Head of the Traffic Law Enforcement Unit at Ngawi Police, Insp. Agus Harianto, said the incident began when Indorent bus with license plate B 7107 TGE, carrying 33 passengers, was traveling from west to east in the right lane, with an Isuzu Elf box truck with license plate B 9503 PXV ahead of it in the same direction.

“The Indorent bus was traveling without paying adequate attention to the traffic ahead. Due to lack of caution, the front of the bus struck the rear of the box truck,” Agus said when confirmed on Friday (2/13).

After the collision, the Indorent bus driven by Pujianto (35), a resident of Siberuk Village, Tulis Subdistrict, Batang Regency, Central Java, swerved to the left, hit the road barrier, went into a ditch, and overturned.

“One person suffered serious injuries, and 33 people sustained minor injuries. The victims were taken to Widodo Hospital and RSUD Dr. Soeroto Ngawi for treatment,” he said.

After receiving intensive care, one of the dozens of accident victims was reported dead. She was the bus stewardess.

“Yes, the stewardess has been confirmed deceased after treatment,” he said.

Police have also conducted crime scene processing and taken statements from witnesses regarding the incident. “The vehicles have been secured as accident evidence. We are still investigating the exact cause of the incident,” he said.
