Bus accident victims identified

BREBES, Central Java: A forensic team managed on Sunday to identify nine of 10 passengers of the Lansung Jaya intercity bus accident in which they were burned to death on Friday.

The identification process, which began on Saturday, involved the forensic laboratory of the Central Java Police and medical doctors from Brebes General Hospital.

The team identified Wadimin, 50, and his wife Dalinem, 45, and their nephews Asih, 18, and Rajimin, 19. They were residents of Kejambon hamlet in Ngadirejo subdistrict in Semarang regency.

The other deaths were identified as Yantini, 24, Mochammad Asrofi, 37, Suyatini, 36, who lived in Plantungan hamlet in Krandon Lor subdistrict, also in Semarang regency.

Also identified were Sarjo, 28, from Ganjingan subdistrict in Indramayu regency, West Java and Ahmad Samsuri, 29, from Bergas Kidul subdistrict in Semarang regency.

The other casualty remains unidentified due to the extreme nature of the burns.

All the identified bodies have been claimed by their respective families.

Police are still searching for the bus driver Suranto, 40, and conductor Joko Bengkong, 34, who have been named suspects in the accident. -- JP
