Burning Skies: Footage Shows Iranian Missiles Launched to Bombard US Bases

Tehran has released footage of missile and drone launches claimed to have been used in attacks against United States military bases in Jordan during the early hours of Monday (31/08/2026). Iran stated that the operation targeted the King Hussein and Al-Azraq airbases, which house US military installations.

Iranian authorities did not disclose the exact time or precise location of the launches shown in the footage. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that the attack was a retaliatory action following US military strikes on two Iranian launchers on Larak Island, in the Strait of Hormuz, on Sunday.

Iranian media, quoting the IRGC, reported that the attacks on the two bases in Jordan utilised ballistic missiles and drones. The IRGC claimed the strikes targeted technical infrastructure, maintenance facilities, and areas used for the deployment of US fighter jets.

Previously, the US military stated that two Iranian launchers on Larak Island were attacked after IRGC forces were observed preparing to use launchers to fire rockets carrying sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz. Jordan subsequently stated that its air defence systems intercepted eight missiles entering its airspace.

Claims regarding the extent of damage to the US bases have not yet been independently verified. This exchange of attacks has once again heightened tensions between Iran and the US, triggering concerns over the security of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic route for global energy traffic that could potentially disrupt international shipping and oil supplies.
