Burglars break into Scotsman's house

JAKARTA: Some unidentified men broke into a two-story house in Kemang, South Jakarta, where Scottish Noak Robert Turip lives with his family, on Friday at 2 a.m.

Police investigators found the gate's lock broken and suspected the burglars entered the house through a window.

The burglars took a Toyota Kijang van, a 29-inch television set, an audio system set and a camera.

"Based on our investigation, there were two unknown men visiting the house two days ago who were checking the electricity meter. We suspect the two men were the burglars who surveyed the house to observe the situation," Mampang Police detectives chief First Insp. Sunaryo said. -- JP
