Burglar shot to death in Srengseng

JAKARTA: A burglar was shot and killed by a detective of the
Jagakarsa sub-precinct on Sunday at 12.30 p.m. as he attempted to
break into a house on Jl. Cipedak Raya RT 04/RW 09, Srengseng
Sawah, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta.

The 39-year-old Ahmad and five accomplices were trying to
break into a house owned by Cucun but were discovered by a group
of locals. Pointing knives at the group, the six burglars fled on
motorbikes.

As the group of locals chased the intruders, a detective
arrived on the scene and fired a warning shot. However, the gang
failed to stop, forcing the detective to fire on them, resulting
in Ahmad's death.

One of the motorbikes, a Yamaha Force 1 bearing police number
B 5698 PL, was left behind and seized by the police. -- JP
