Burdened by Debt, Cirebon Civil Servant Murders and Robs His Own Neighbour

A 48-year-old housewife, identified by the initials NS, was found dead in an apparent murder in Jagapura Kidul Village, Gegesik District, Cirebon Regency. The perpetrator is a 55-year-old man, identified as S, who is the victim’s neighbour and a civil servant (PNS) employed by the Cirebon Regency government. The suspect was identified following a series of investigations, evidence collection, and witness examinations, and was formally named a suspect on 22 July 2026. The victim was discovered deceased in her home in Hamlet III, RT 021 RW 006, Jagapura Kidul Village, on Wednesday, 10 June, at 8.30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. The crime began when the suspect approached the victim’s house at night. He entered surreptitiously by prying open a side window while the victim was sleeping alone. As the suspect attempted to take a gold bracelet from the victim’s left wrist, she suddenly awoke and screamed for help. The perpetrator immediately covered her mouth and brutally stabbed her twice in the back of the head with a screwdriver, leaving her helpless until she died. The suspect fled with one gold necklace, two gold bracelets, and one gold ring. The stolen items were later sold to a gold shop in the Arjawinangun District area for Rp29,688,000. The suspect admitted he needed money to pay off debts, which drove him to steal the victim’s jewellery, and the proceeds from the sale were used to settle his obligations.
