Bupati Recommendation Issued, Dukuh Banyon Officially Dismissed

The Pendowoharjo village administration in Sewon, Bantul, has finally dismissed the Dukuh of Banyon after receiving a recommendation for dismissal from the Bupati of Bantul.

“The Dukuh of Banyon has been dismissed,” said Pendowoharjo Village Head Hilmi Hakimudin when contacted by detikJogja on Friday (28/8/2026).

Hilmi explained that the Bupati’s recommendation regarding the dismissal of the Dukuh of Banyon was only issued on 7 August. The recommendation letter was then delivered to the Pendowoharjo village administration on 11 August 2026.

“We then coordinated and so on, such as inviting the Dukuh of Banyon but he did not attend. In the end, we delivered the dismissal decree to his house and it was received by his mother, because the person concerned was not at home,” he said.

With the dismissal, Hilmi said that the position of Dukuh of Banyon is currently vacant. For the time being, an acting official has been appointed to fill the role.

“Because this was not planned, we do not yet have a budget for filling the Dukuh of Banyon position. So for now there is an acting official for Dukuh of Banyon, effective from 14 August because we issued the acting official decree on that date as well,” he said.

Hilmi assessed that leaving the position vacant for too long would affect public services in Banyon.

“It was done immediately so that there is no vacuum in services for the Banyon community,” he said.

It was previously reported that a number of residents of Banyon, Pendowoharjo, Sewon, Bantul, stormed the Pendowoharjo Village Office on Monday (29/6). They demanded that the Dukuh of Banyon be removed for allegedly embezzling residents’ land certificates.

According to detikJogja’s observations, the crowd, dominated by young people, filled the front of the Pendowoharjo Village Office. Some of them unfurled banners and displayed a coffin covered in green cloth in front of the village office.

A representative of Banyon residents, Zaki, said hundreds of residents participated in the action that day. According to him, the Dukuh of Banyon had abused his position.

“There are many allegations made by the dukuh, one of which is pawning certificates without the knowledge of the residents. The allegation is that the dukuh did this because he was entangled in online loans,” he told reporters in Pendowoharjo, Sewon, Bantul, on Monday (29/6/2026).

Zaki said there were two Banyon residents who were victims of certificate embezzlement by the Dukuh. First, the Dukuh of Banyon allegedly asked for money to process a name change on a land certificate amounting to Rp 4.5 million, but the matter was resolved by the Dukuh’s father.

“The second is that a resident’s land certificate was pawned for Rp 48 million, and it has not been resolved to this day. The dukuh has also been contacted frequently but always changes phone numbers and is difficult to find, and this has been going on since 2020,” he said.

Residents demanded open, fair, and transparent accountability from the dukuh.

“We demand open, fair, and transparent accountability from the dukuh to the victims affected by these actions. Secondly, we request and demand that the Village Head dismiss the dukuh from his position within seven days,” he said.
