Bupati Dadang Supriatna Brings Joy to 100 Orphan Children Through Shopping Trip at Mall
Bandung Bupati Dadang Supriatna (Kang DS) invited 100 orphan children to shop for Eid clothing at Jogja Soreang shopping centre in Bandung Regency on Sunday, 1 March 2026.
During the event, each child received a 500,000 rupiah shopping voucher to purchase clothing and food of their choice.
Kang DS stated that the activity demonstrated the district’s commitment to ensuring orphan children could experience the happiness of celebrating Eid al-Fitr like other children. “I want to see their happiness and have them experience shopping at a shopping centre to buy their needs just like other children,” he said.
The atmosphere was filled with emotion and joy as the children freely selected trousers, shoes, t-shirts, Muslim clothing, headscarves, sandals, and their favourite foods without restrictions.
Several of them appeared confused when making selections, as they had never experienced shopping at a mall before. Previously, when receiving Eid clothing, they could only accept donations without being able to choose the style, size, or colour according to their preferences.
Ahmad, one of the orphan children, expressed his happiness at being able to purchase Eid clothes according to his taste. “Thank you, Bupati. This memory will never be forgotten. You are the first adult who brought me shopping for clothes at a shopping centre according to my wishes, style, and design,” he said.
During the event, Kang DS was accompanied by officials from Bandung Regency’s Baznas organisation, who helped the children select clothing that suited their preferred sizes, colours, and patterns.
Kang DS said he experienced special joy seeing the enthusiastic and cheerful expressions of the children whilst shopping for their Eid needs. He emphasised that this activity was not merely an annual agenda but rather a demonstration of the district’s commitment to ensuring orphan children could experience Eid celebration happiness like other children accompanied by their parents.
“I want to see their happiness. They must also experience the shopping atmosphere at a shopping centre to buy their needs just like other children. Shopping with these special children has been something we have done for two years. God willing, we will continue to increase the number in the future,” he explained.
He hopes that during Ramadan 2027, even more orphan children will be able to experience similar joy.
