Bunker-Like Room and Ammunition-Making Tools Found at South Jakarta School Foundation

In addition to hundreds of firearms and airguns, a bullet-making tool and a room suspected to be a bunker were discovered at a private school foundation in Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. Staf Ahli Ketua Pembina Yayasan, Untung Sangaji, revealed the ammunition manufacturing tool was found when staff opened the former chairman’s room on Wednesday (5 August) for teacher activities. “After we opened and searched the room to tidy it up, we found a 5.56 calibre sharp weapon barrel. Then there were .40 and 9 mm handguns. There were three Glock-type magazines, which hold 30 rounds when loaded,” Untung told reporters at the South Jakarta Metro Police on Thursday (6 August). “Then there was a Walther, a .22, a complete M4 with its magazine, and a bullet-making tool which is strictly prohibited. How could a bullet-making tool be in this school environment?” he continued. Besides weapons and the ammunition tool, narcotics and pornographic CDs were also found in the room. Following the discovery, Untung urged the police to investigate the matter thoroughly, stating such items have no place in a school environment. “We hope the police will take this seriously because these weapons are linked to national security. They can be misused and remain dangerous to anyone,” he said. The school’s legal representative, Hermawanto, revealed that a total of 995 firearms were found in the former chairman’s room. He also disclosed the discovery of a room resembling a bunker, which the foundation has not yet dared to open. “There is still one room shaped like a bunker that is tightly locked; we cannot enter it. We will ask the authorities to help us open this room because we are worried about legal risks. So, we want this bunker to be opened as well,” he stated. The weapons found included four long barrels, two short barrels, a silencer, seven magazines of various types, a number of rounds of various calibres, several airsoft guns resembling FN P90, AK-47 and M4 Carbine, a taser gun, a bullet-making tool, and a guidebook for making bullets. Hermawanto said the former chairman of the foundation was dismissed in April 2026 and had kept the keys to the room. “The legal status is that the process of dismissing the chairman has been completed, and the deactivation of the board member is underway. A civil lawsuit is currently proceeding at the Central Jakarta District Court,” he said. The discovery began when the room was opened for student activities. “On 10 and 11 July, almost a month ago, we found 995 weapons. Inside were firearms, ammunition, and several other weapon accessories,” Hermawanto told reporters on Thursday. The South Jakarta Metro Police are currently investigating the discovery of air guns and firearms at the foundation. “The South Jakarta Metro Police have received a public report regarding the discovery of weapons (consisting of air guns and firearms) stored in a room at a school foundation located in Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, which was subsequently filed as a police report dated 15 July 2026,” said Head of Public Relations for the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Joko Adi Wibowo, to reporters on Thursday.
