'Bung' Karno's teachings

'Bung' Karno's teachings

From Rakyat Merdeka

The reform movement has not yet borne fruit because it is not
imbued with the teachings of Bung Karno, which stress a love of
the people and togetherness in keeping with the ideals of the
Aug. 17, 1945 revolution.

Now that Soeharto has stepped down from his presidential seat,
the stipulation of the People's Consultative Assembly banning
Bung Karno's teachings has remained in force. The Functional
Group (Golkar) Party as the backbone of the New Order is yet to
be dissolved.

The 1999 general election, held by the then president BJ
Habibie, was not intended for the dissolution of Golkar. This
general election gave the New Order forces a chance to
consolidate themselves. The "Unity Cabinet" formed by Abdurrahman
"Gus Dur" Wahid and the present "Mutual Help Cabinet", formed by
Megawati, essentially only to allow the New Order forces to
survive.

In the post-Soeharto era, the governments rely heavily on the
power of global imperialism/capitalism so that our country has to
undergo a protracted crisis.

Even the present administration of Megawati Soekarnoputri has
successfully protected Soeharto and his cronies so that they are
free from any prosecution for their previous crimes.

The longer Megawati is in power, the more disintegrated the
nation becomes. The sales of state assets, the revocation of
subsidies for fuel oil, electricity, health and education have
made lower class people more miserable than ever.

Corruption, collusion and nepotism have become more rampant
than before while bribery is practiced in practically all
executive, legislative and judiciary institutions.

Therefore, Megawati, Hamzah Haz, Akbar Tandjung and Amien Rais
must immediately give up their posts and hand them over to those
without any phobia of Bung Karno's teachings.
