Bundling Package Strategy to Ensure Free Nutritious Meals Continue During Eid Holiday
Distribution of free nutritious meals (MBG) will continue throughout the Eid al-Fitr holiday and collective leave period for 1447 Hijriah, albeit under a different mechanism. The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has prepared three bundling packages for distribution during this period.
The national nutrition fulfilment programme has maintained operations during Ramadan, the Eid holiday and collective leave, as well as the Lunar New Year. For vulnerable groups — pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children aged 6-59 months — MBG services will continue in full throughout these periods.
In areas where the majority of beneficiaries do not observe the Ramadan fast, MBG distribution will follow the normal schedule with ready-to-eat meals as usual.
During the collective leave and Lunar New Year holiday on 16-17 February 2026, no MBG distribution took place. Similarly, at the start of Ramadan from 18 to 22 February, distribution of nutritious meals was temporarily suspended. MBG distribution resumed on 23 February 2026.
The mechanism for MBG distribution during the Eid holiday is set out in Circular Letter No. 3 of 2026. BGN Head Dadan Hindayana stated that from 18-24 March, MBG will not be distributed.
As a replacement, distribution will be carried out earlier in the form of bundling packages, combining meals for several days.
“Distribution will take place on the last distribution day beforehand, namely Tuesday 17 March 2026, comprising one healthy packaged meal plus three bundling packages of healthy meals for the MBG allocation covering Wednesday 18 March 2026 through Friday 20 March 2026,” Dadan said in a statement on Saturday (14 February 2026).
He explained that bundling packages involve the consolidation of MBG healthy packaged meals for consumption over several days, delivered all at once. Nevertheless, BGN emphasised that the maximum shelf life of the received meals is limited to three days.
“Nutrition service points are required to provide brief education on the storage methods and staged consumption of bundling packages over a maximum of three days, as well as to affirm that the packages are exclusively for designated MBG beneficiaries,” Dadan said.
