Bundaran HI to be Main Stage for Jakarta's 499th Anniversary Peak Celebration
The peak celebration of Jakarta’s 499th Anniversary will be held at the Bundaran HI on 27–28 June 2026. The event follows a series of programmes for the public, including public space improvements, infrastructure inaugurations, free access to various tourist destinations, and a Rp1 public transport fare.
Chair of the 499th Jakarta Anniversary Committee and Assistant for Economy and Finance of the DKI Jakarta Regional Secretariat, Suharini Eliawati, stated that the city’s age is a significant momentum for Jakarta to look towards its future as a global city. “The age of 499 is a momentum for Jakarta towards five centuries of the city. Therefore, this year’s anniversary is filled with various gifts for the community, ranging from more comfortable public spaces, ease of mobility, to entertainment and cultural activities. This entire series is a real manifestation of Jakarta’s transformation into a global city that remains rooted in culture and provides benefits for the community,” Eli said on Thursday (25/6).
On Saturday (27/6), Bundaran HI will host the peak night event titled ‘Towards 5 Centuries of Jakarta’ from 15:30 to 22:00 WIB. The event, which is open to the public and free of charge, will be enlivened by performances from Padi Reborn, Mahalini, Adrian Khalif, Cici Paramida, Mollucan Soul, Sania, Skarbu, and Pasming Based. In addition to the music concert, the public will be treated to a multimedia show featuring a lighting show, video mapping, flying LED, eco-friendly art installations, and the launch of the official logo towards five centuries of Jakarta.
On Sunday (28/6), the ‘Jakarta Full of Colour’ activity will be held from 06:00 to 10:00 WIB. Various attractions have been prepared, including PoundFit, a giant balloon parade from Sarinah to Bundaran HI, a marching band, a mass Nusantara dance involving around 500 dancers, a collaboration between Gambang Kromong and ballet, urban theatre, and a waste sorting action.
To support the smooth running of the event, Jalan M.H. Thamrin from the Sarinah area to Dukuh Atas will be temporarily closed on Saturday (27/6) from 14:00 to 23:00 WIB. Meanwhile, the Car Free Day on Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said on Sunday (28/6) will be cancelled so that the entire series of activities is centred on the Sudirman–Thamrin corridor. To support public mobility, MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, and TransJakarta fares will be set at Rp1 on 27–28 June 2026, applicable to all users regardless of domicile. “Come and celebrate Jakarta’s Anniversary with family and friends. Use public transport, and together let us maintain cleanliness and order so that this celebration can take place safely, comfortably, and enjoyably for all,” Eli said.
