Bundaran HI Bus Stop Packed with Residents Celebrating Jakarta's Anniversary

The Transjakarta bus stop at Bundaran HI was packed with residents this afternoon. Passengers alighting at the Bundaran HI bus stop flocked towards the main stage of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary celebration, located right by the Welcome Monument fountain pool.

Based on observations at the location on Saturday (27/6/2026), crowds at the Bundaran HI Transjakarta stop began to appear from 3 PM local time. The influx of people caused queues at the tap card machines used for entering and exiting the stop.

Residents who got off and exited the Bundaran HI Transjakarta stop were seen walking directly towards the main stage of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary celebration. Some residents immediately took photos upon arriving in front of the stage.

Several residents also chose to go up to the upper floor of the Bundaran HI Transjakarta stop first just to capture the moment. They took selfies with the main stage of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary celebration as the backdrop.

However, at exactly 3:10 PM local time, officers announced that there would be no temporary service during today’s peak celebration of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary at the Bundaran HI Transjakarta stop. The temporary service suspension at the Bundaran HI Transjakarta stop was implemented from 3 PM to 10 PM local time.

Residents were also no longer permitted to go up to the second floor of the stop during the temporary closure. Officers informed the public that they could choose other public transport alternatives, such as the MRT, if they needed to travel or move to another location.

‘Bus operations are suspended during the event from 3 PM until 10 PM tonight,’ an officer at the location stated.

Meanwhile, the roads leading to the Bundaran HI area were sterilised, meaning they were free of vehicles. From both Jalan MH Thamrin and Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, no vehicles were permitted to pass through.
