Bunda Mulia University Launches Indonesia's First OBE-Integrated AI Tutor
Universitas Bunda Mulia (UBM) is continuing its commitment to delivering technology-based educational innovation with the launch of BM AI Tutor, a smart academic assistant platform based on artificial intelligence. It is claimed to be the first in Indonesia to be integrated with an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum. UBM Rector Doddy Surja Bajuadji stated during the launch at UBM Tower in Alam Sutera that the platform was designed as a private digital tutor accessible to students anytime, anywhere, to support more effective, personal, and measurable learning. He said it was expected to mark an important milestone in the transformation of Indonesian higher education, strengthening UBM’s commitment to providing education that is excellent, relevant, and globally competitive. What distinguishes the platform from other AI platforms is its direct integration with UBM’s OBE curriculum, ensuring every learning activity, exercise, discussion, and evaluation is structured to support the achievement of established course learning outcomes. This approach not only helps students obtain answers to academic questions but also guides the learning process to remain aligned with the competencies that must be achieved in each course. The platform also supports lecturers by providing more accurate data to continuously map students’ achievement of course learning outcomes, enabling learning to proceed in a more structured, objective, and data-driven manner. Henri Togar Hasiholan Tambunan, Head of LLDIKTI Region III, praised the launch and stated that his office continually encourages campuses in the region to not merely meet national standards but also to leap forward and anticipate future industry and student needs. He noted that UBM had previously pioneered an Artificial Intelligence study programme and had now integrated AI technology into its core learning systems. A panel discussion themed ‘Navigating the Future of Higher Education with AI’ was held, featuring experts from the University of Indonesia and industry. UBM explained that BM AI Tutor implements a Student-Centered Learning approach, encouraging active and independent study. The platform was developed collaboratively by UBM students and lecturers together with Digitalplace.ai, a Singapore-based AI and robotics company.
