BUMN Management Agency: Whoosh Debt Restructuring Completed, Announcement Imminent
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Badan Pengelola (BP) BUMN has stated that the resolution of the debt restructuring issue for the Indonesia-China High-Speed Rail (KCIC) project, or Whoosh, has been completed and will be announced to the public shortly.
The Head of BP BUMN and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Danantara, Dony Oskaria, conveyed that the resolution process has reached its final stage after discussions with Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.
“Whoosh will also be finalised soon with the Finance Minister. Hopefully next week, I and the Finance Minister, or perhaps in a week or two, will meet along with fellow journalists to convey the resolution of Whoosh, which has been completed and finalised,” Dony said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He explained that all studies related to the debt restructuring have been completed and an agreement has been reached among the relevant parties. Currently, he said, the process is entering the formal stage, such as document signing, which will also be communicated openly.
“I discussed it with the Finance Minister earlier. And there is already an agreement. All studies and so on have been completed. Now, we just have the formal process. There will be signing and such. And fellow journalists will be invited,” he said.
Dony stated that the government is focused on resolving the issue comprehensively without debating past causes. These efforts are directed towards improving the health of BUMN companies and strengthening future governance.
Regarding operations, he assured that the management of the high-speed train remains with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI). Details on ownership structure and funding will be explained further during the official announcement.
“Well, this will be conveyed later. It won’t be a surprise; of course, the Finance Minister and I will jointly announce this resolution process to the public. But certainly, for all of you, the resolution will soon be signed and settled,” Dony said.
Furthermore, he emphasised that services to the public will not be disrupted and are expected to improve even more with the clarity on the high-speed rail project’s funding structure.
“And most importantly, public services will not be disrupted and will actually become even better. Thus, with the clarity regarding the funding structure of the high-speed train,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa conveyed that the decision on the Whoosh debt restructuring resolution has been determined but cannot yet be announced in detail because it involves various parties.
He assured that all decisions are final and only awaiting the time to be conveyed to the public.
“The main point is it’s decided, it’s done, just formalities left, but I can’t announce it yet because it’s not just me involved; it will be announced, but it’s clear how the management will be,” Purbaya said.
“It’s done, it’s decided. It will be announced when the time comes, at the right time,” he concluded.
