Disruptions to train services on the southern line due to the KA Bangunkarta derailment have finally been resolved. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) completed the evacuation of the affected train consist at Bumiayu Station in the early hours of Tuesday (7/4/2026), while accelerating the restoration of the line to return operations to normal.

The evacuation process proceeded smoothly with support from KAI’s on-site technical team, as well as assistance from TNI, Polri personnel, and local community elements who acted quickly at the incident site.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, stated that with the completion of the evacuation and infrastructure handling, train services on the Bumiayu line are now running normally.

“Our primary focus is to ensure that all lines can be traversed safely so that train services can resume normally. Personnel from the rail and bridge units have reinforced the rail construction post-evacuation to guarantee travel safety,” said Anne in an official statement on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

In the initial recovery phase, both lines can already be used, albeit with speed restrictions. KA 2718 (Karacibon Service) became the first train to pass through, departing from Linggapura Station at 03:49 WIB and crossing Km 312+1 at 04:04 WIB via the upstream line.

Although operations are starting to recover, KAI continues to oversee the fulfilment of rights for affected customers. Passenger mobilisation was carried out using 10 assistance buses to ensure journeys could continue to their final destinations.

Staff at various stations have also been placed on standby to provide the latest information and distribute service recovery items in the form of food and drinks in accordance with regulations.

Additionally, KAI has ensured the provision of compensation to customers experiencing delays, in the form of food and drinks as per applicable regulations.

“We extend our deepest apologies for the inconvenience experienced by our customers due to this operational issue,” emphasised Anne.
