Bumi Resources strengthens ESG and governance to maintain competitiveness
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Bumi Resources Tbk is strengthening the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles as part of its long-term business strategy, including through the reinforcement of human rights governance, risk management, and supply chain management.
Mahmud Samuri, Group Head of Corporate Governance and Compliance and Chairman of the Bumi Resources Human Rights Team, stated that robust governance is required to maintain business resilience, build stakeholder trust, and create long-term value.
“We believe that a business that respects human rights is a resilient business, capable of managing risks more effectively, building stakeholder trust, and creating sustainable long-term value,” Mahmud said in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
This governance reinforcement is being implemented down to the business unit level and covers various issues related to local communities, the workforce, the environment, and the company’s supply chain.
The move is also part of Bumi’s efforts to strengthen its sustainability framework amidst increasing attention to ESG aspects and business readiness to face global market changes.
On this basis, Bumi Resources achieved a Platinum award at the 2026 Indonesian Responsible Business Award (IRBA) in the category of Protection of Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights.
