BUMI Independent Commissioner Kanaka Puradiredja Passes Away
PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) has announced that the company’s Independent Commissioner, Kanaka Puradiredja, has passed away. The sad news was conveyed by BUMI’s management through a disclosure letter to the Financial Services Authority (OJK), signed by BUMI Director R.A. Sri Dharmayanti, on Monday (3/8/2026).
In the letter, numbered 614/BR-BOD/VIII/26, the company stated that it received information regarding Kanaka Puradiredja’s passing on Saturday, 1 August 2026.
“On Saturday, 1 August 2026, the company received information that Mr Kanaka Poeradiredja, the company’s Independent Commissioner, has passed away,” the official letter stated.
BUMI’s management also affirmed that the event has no significant impact on the company’s operational activities, legal matters, financial condition, or business continuity. Beyond this information, there are no other material events or facts that the company has yet to disclose to the regulator.
Profile of Kanaka Puradiredja
According to Bumi Resources’ official website, Kanaka Puradiredja was a veteran figure in Indonesian accounting and corporate governance. He served as Chairman of the Certification Board of the Indonesian Audit Committee since August 2016, a member of the Expert Board of the National Governance Policy Committee (KNKG), a member of the Honorary Board of the Risk Management Professionals Association (PRIMA), and Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Commissioners and Directors Institute (LKDI). He also served as Independent Commissioner at several other listed companies.
Within BUMI, he had been entrusted as Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of the company’s Risk Management Committee since 2021.
Throughout his career, Kanaka founded the public accounting firm Kanaka Puradiredja & Suhartono and served as Senior Partner from 2000 to 2007. He was also one of the founders of KPMG Indonesia, holding the position of Chairman in 1999. Among his other strategic roles were member of the National Governance Policy Committee/KNKG (2016-2019), Chairman of the Team Formulating the Indonesian Corporate Governance Guidelines (2017-2019), Chairman of the Honorary Board of the Indonesian Institute of Accountants (2010-2016 and 2002-2010), and Founder and Chairman of the Indonesian Audit Committee Institute/IKAI (2004-2010).
He earned a degree in Economics and Accounting from Padjadjaran University, Bandung, in 1971. Kanaka was also a Chartered Member of LKDI, a Chartered Accountant, and held various professional certifications in risk management, audit committee practice, and corporate governance oversight.
The passing of Kanaka Puradiredja is a loss for the management and employees of PT Bumi Resources Tbk, given his long-standing contribution to strengthening the company’s governance during his tenure as Independent Commissioner.
