Bulog’s Karawang Rice and Paddy Procurement Reaches 92,410 Tonnes
Karawang (ANTARA) – Perum Bulog’s branch office in Karawang, West Java, has procured paddy and rice equivalent to 92,411 tonnes of rice.
“We have so far procured 92,411,420 kilograms (92,410 tonnes) of farmers’ paddy and rice, equivalent to rice,” Rafki Ismael, head of the Perum Bulog Karawang branch, said in a statement received in Karawang on Friday.
He said the paddy procurement figure was high and had even set a national rice-procurement record.
According to him, procurement has been carried out on a large scale at local level by strengthening purchasing networks and making the most of the harvest period. It has also resulted from close collaboration between Bulog Karawang, local farmers and rice mills.
He said successful procurement from production centres such as Karawang had further strengthened the government’s rice reserves, supporting national food security and price stability.
As of 8 October 2026, national procurement under the Public Service Obligation (PSO) had reached 4,115,014 tonnes of rice equivalent, or 102.88 per cent of the government’s four-million-tonne target.
The national total exceeded Bulog’s previous record of 3.65 million tonnes in 2012, as well as its 2025 procurement of 3.19 million tonnes.
Meanwhile, Perum Bulog president director Lieutenant General (retired) Dr Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani praised the hard work of staff in the field, including regional branches in food-supply hubs such as Karawang.
