Buloggate trial enters final stage
JAKARTA: The trial over the alleged misuse of the Rp40 billion worth of State Logistic Agency (Bulog) non-budgetary fund will enter its final phase to hear the accused on Monday.
The accused -- former minister/state secretary Akbar Tanjung, the Raudlathul Jannah Foundation chairman Dadang Sukandar, and contractor Winfried Simatupang will all be questioned today.
"The questioning session of the three defendants will take place on Monday, while the evidences would be checked the next day," presiding judge Amiruddin Zakaria said earlier.
Akbar insisted he has channeled the funds to the foundation for implementing the staple food distribution program as instructed by then president B.J. Habibie.
Speculations are rife that the fund had been channeled to the Golkar Party to finance the party's campaign in the 1999 election. --Antara
