Bulog Yogyakarta absorbs 178,000 tonnes of rice equivalent
Perum Bulog’s Regional Office for the Special Region of Yogyakarta has successfully realised the procurement of 178,000 tonnes of rice equivalent as of early June 2026. This figure represents approximately 91 per cent of the 2026 procurement target, which was set at 196,000 tonnes of rice equivalent.
“This achievement by Bulog DIY supports the historic milestone of Perum Bulog nationally in executing government mandates regarding the procurement of paddy and rice,” said Dedi Aprilyadi, Head of Perum Bulog Yogyakarta Regional Office, in Yogyakarta on Wednesday.
Nationally, Perum Bulog’s procurement realisation has reached 3.01 million tonnes of rice equivalent, or about 75 per cent of the 4 million tonne national target set by the government for 2026.
According to Dedi, the achievement by Bulog DIY is the result of strong synergy and cooperation between Bulog and various stakeholders involved in the programme to absorb farmers’ paddy and rice. “The procurement achievement of up to 178,000 tonnes of rice equivalent is inseparable from the support of all parties, ranging from farmers, farmer groups, and agricultural extension officers to the TNI, Polri, local governments, milling partners, and the entire Bulog workforce who worked tirelessly throughout the harvest season,” he said.
He noted that this year’s absorption success is also supported by increased agricultural production, the expansion of harvest areas, and various government programmes supporting the agricultural sector, such as agricultural mechanisation, pump irrigation, and land optimisation.
“As part of the implementation of the government mandate, we continue to absorb farmers’ paddy at the Government Purchase Price (HPP) of Rp6,500 per kilogram for Harvestable Dry Paddy (GKP),” he said. This policy, he added, provides market certainty for farmers while maintaining national production momentum.
“Bulog is present to ensure that farmers’ harvests are absorbed optimally. We want farmers to have price and market certainty so they can continue to produce and contribute to achieving national food self-sufficiency,” he stated.
Dedi added that with 91 per cent of the annual target achieved by early June, Bulog Yogyakarta Regional Office is optimistic that the 2026 procurement target can be reached in the near future and may even potentially exceed the set target.
Nationally, the successful absorption of farmers’ paddy and rice has strengthened the Government Rice Reserve (CBP), which currently exceeds 5 million tonnes, reaching the highest level in the modern history of national food management. “This condition provides strong food availability guarantees to support various government programmes, ranging from price stabilisation and food assistance to anticipating various emergencies and market fluctuations,” he said.
Perum Bulog Yogyakarta Regional Office reaffirmed its commitment to remaining at the forefront of executing government mandates in the food sector, ensuring the sustainability of farmer harvest absorption, strengthening government food reserves, and supporting the realisation of national food security and self-sufficiency.
