Bulog Warehouses Full: Indonesian Farmers' Youth Appreciates Government's Highest Rice Reserve Record
The Central Board (DPP) of Indonesian Farmers’ Youth (PTI) has expressed the highest appreciation for the concrete actions taken by President Prabowo Subianto, together with Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono, who conducted surprise inspections and directly monitored Bulog warehouses in various regions.
This step is seen as concrete evidence of the state’s presence in ensuring national food availability and eradicating public doubts about rice self-sufficiency.
Secretary General of DPP PTI, R.S. Suroyo, emphasised that the President’s direct presence at the forefront of food distribution, backed by factual data, sends a strong signal that food sovereignty is the government’s top priority.
“Data from Bulog warehouses and the current production increase figures we see erase all doubts. The direct presence of President Prabowo and Deputy Minister Sudaryono is a firm message that food sovereignty is the top priority. Self-sufficiency is not a dream, but a target we are achieving through real work and solid data,” Suroyo stated in his written remarks today.
Doubts and criticisms regarding rice self-sufficiency achievements expressed by Feri Amsari are unfounded and tend to be nitpicking.
According to Bung Royo, his affectionate nickname, DPP PTI differs from Feri because it does not merely observe from the desk and glance superficially, but delves into crucial data, especially from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), which shows a sustainable food self-sufficiency position.
The government’s rice reserve (CBP) position as of April 2026 reached 4.8 million tonnes, the highest figure in history.
This increase was driven by a surge in national rice production in 2025, which rose by 4.07 million tonnes or 13.29 per cent.
The total national rice stock is also estimated to reach 28 million tonnes. This amount consists of Bulog’s CBP (4.8 million tonnes), stocks in society (approximately 12 million tonnes), and near-harvest potential (approximately 12 million tonnes). This comprehensive stock composition ensures sufficient national rice availability to meet national needs for nearly a year ahead or 11 months.
Certainty of rice stocks in Bulog warehouses forms the main foundation for price stability and the welfare of all parties.
“We, Indonesian Farmers’ Youth, have monitored in various regions that farmers’ productivity is starting to increase thanks to more targeted production support. Such as a 20 per cent reduction in subsidised fertiliser prices. The President’s inspection of Bulog warehouses proves that our downstreaming and stock management are well controlled. We fully support the government’s focus on strengthening Bulog’s role with adequate regulations and budgets, as well as focusing on balancing HPP (farmer-level prices) and HET (consumer prices) to keep them stable, as emphasised by Deputy Minister Sudaryono,” Suroyo said.
DPP PTI also highlighted Bulog’s strategic role as a price guarantor.
“As conveyed by Deputy Minister Sudaryono, ‘The price guarantor is Bulog.’ When prices fall, the state is present through Bulog by purchasing paddy from farmers at good prices, thus ensuring farmers’ welfare. Conversely, during scarcity, Bulog releases stocks to the market so that prices remain affordable for consumers. This is a fundamental step for sustainable self-sufficiency,” Suroyo added.
The increase in paddy production aligns with farmers’ welfare. BPS recorded the Farmers’ Exchange Rate (NTP) at 125.45 in February 2026. This figure is the highest in history.
Based on this, Indonesian Farmers’ Youth invites all elements of the nation to take pride in this achievement and stop doubting the nation’s own ability to produce food.
The government’s current focus is on supply sustainability, which will position Indonesia as the world’s food barn.
“Let us guard it together. Do not heed commentators who speak without facts and reality. If the government has gone directly to the warehouses, then our task as farmers’ youth is to continue going directly to the fields to ensure production becomes even more abundant,” Suroyo concluded.
