Bulog Urges Rice Milling Partners to Improve Processing Standards
Bandung (ANTARA) - Perum Bulog has invited all rice milling partners to continuously improve processing standards, maintain quality consistency, and strengthen collaboration to ensure the quality of the Government Rice Reserves (CBP), which currently stands at 5.4 million tonnes, remains protected.
During a dialogue with milling entrepreneurs across the Greater Bandung area in Sumedang, the President Director of Perum Bulog, Lieutenant General Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani (Ret.), emphasised that an abundance of national food stocks would be meaningless if the quality of rice received by the public were to decline.
“Rice quality is our shared responsibility. Large stocks must be accompanied by maintained quality. Therefore, I am calling on all milling partners to continuously improve processing standards, maintain quality consistency, and strengthen collaboration with Bulog so that the public receives rice of the best quality,” stated Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani in a statement in Bandung on Saturday (1/8).
Rizal explained that rice quality assurance is conducted from upstream to downstream. At the upstream level, rice mills are required to meet strict quality standards for paddy and rice before entering the government supply chain.
At the downstream level, he noted that Bulog conducts periodic inspections, such as those carried out at the Kordon Branch Warehouse, to monitor cleanliness, air circulation, and physical storage systems to prevent damage during storage periods.
Warehouse security is also being tightened through the involvement of TNI and Polri personnel to ensure the safety of the facilities.
“We are ensuring that the warehouse security system operates optimally. The security of Bulog warehouses is being strengthened through synergy with TNI and Polri personnel to safeguard the Government Rice Reserve stocks, ensuring that storage and distribution processes can proceed safely, orderly, and smoothly,” Rizal emphasised.
Through quality standardisation at the milling level and integrated warehouse supervision, Bulog remains optimistic that the rice supply distributed to the public will remain in prime condition to support national food security and self-sufficiency.
