Bulog Timika Allocates 919 Tonnes of Food Aid for Puncak Regency
Perum Bulog Timika has announced that the allocation of food aid for Penerima Bantuan Pangan (PBP) in Puncak Regency, Papua Tengah, totals 919 tonnes for the February to March 2026 period.
Head of Perum Bulog Timika Branch, Dedy Wahyudi, stated on Friday that this aid will be distributed to 45,983 PBP in the Puncak region. The entire distribution process relies on air transport from Timika, Mimika Regency, to Puncak, as the region is only accessible by air.
“The challenges in Puncak Regency for distribution to remote areas include weather and security. There are six receiving airports there that support distribution to the districts. So the rice is transported from Timika by plane directly to those six airports. From the airports, it is then distributed to each district,” he explained.
He noted that in a single day, a plane can transport 10 to 15 tonnes of food aid to Puncak. The National Food Agency (Bapanas) has set a distribution deadline of 30 June for the region, but Perum Bulog is targeting to complete the process ahead of schedule.
Dedy expressed appreciation to the Puncak Regency Government for its continuous support throughout the food aid distribution process for the local community. “The Puncak Regency Government is also very helpful in the distribution, and they directly assist in receiving and handing over the aid on site,” he said.
Perum Bulog Timika has been tasked by the National Food Agency to carry out the distribution of food aid to the Penerima Bantuan Pangan (PBP). Each beneficiary receives 10 kilograms of rice and two litres of cooking oil per month.
