Bulog strengthens Cheap Food Movement in Alor to stabilise prices
Perum Bulog is strengthening the implementation of the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) in Alor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), to maintain price stability, expand food access, and ensure rice availability remains sufficient for the public.
“In principle, we want existing stock not only to be stored in warehouses, but also to move and be present closer to the community,” said Fauzan Dipo Pribadi, Head of the Government Market Sales Division at Perum Bulog, in a confirmed statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
Bulog has confirmed that rice stock availability in Alor Regency is in a safe and sufficient condition. Currently, rice stock stored at the Kalabahi Kota Bulog Warehouse stands at approximately 1,500 tonnes, so the public need not worry about rice supply availability.
To ensure that available stock can provide direct benefits to the community, Bulog continues to strengthen rice distribution through various channels, one of which is by intensifying the implementation of GPM at several points that are easily accessible to the public.
“Today’s GPM is being held at GBI Filadelfia Mali and Ebenhaeser Hula Church, and it will continue to be implemented to help the people of Alor obtain quality and affordable food,” he said.
Fauzan, who was present to directly observe the GPM implementation in Alor, confirmed that sufficient stock availability is an important asset for Bulog to continue providing food at affordable prices in the community.
“Therefore, we will continue to move the available stock so that its benefits can be felt by the community, one of which is through the Cheap Food Movement,” Fauzan explained.
According to him, GPM is not only a means of food distribution, but also a form of government presence in ensuring the public has access to staple food at reasonable prices.
“We will continue to coordinate with various parties so that GPM implementation can be carried out massively and reach communities in need,” he added.
Deputy Governor of NTT Johni Asadoma appreciated Bulog’s steps in strengthening food distribution through GPM in Alor Regency. According to him, the activity is a tangible form of government synergy in maintaining both food availability and affordability for the public.
“This is a concrete step to ensure the public obtains food at affordable prices. The NTT Provincial Government will continue to support efforts to maintain food security and stability throughout East Nusa Tenggara, including in Alor Regency,” said Johni.
He added that NTT’s geographical condition, which consists of many archipelagic areas, requires strong collaboration and coordination between the central government, regional governments, Bulog, and all relevant stakeholders.
“We want to ensure that the public, including those in archipelagic areas, can obtain food easily and at affordable prices,” said Johni.
