Bulog secures food stocks and prices through Eid period
“The public is expected to remain calm as the supply is guaranteed,” said Deputy Director of Perum Bulog, Marga Taufiq, during a surprise inspection in the city of Tegal, Central Java, on Tuesday. According to him, Bulog has been conducting inspections regarding the prices of basic necessities at the Pasar Pagi market in Tegal, which are still relatively under control despite a slight increase. “Earlier, we asked the traders, and there has been a decrease, for example, in the price of chilies, which initially cost Rp100,000 to Rp120,000 per kilogram, but has now dropped to Rp80,000 per kilogram. Then, the prices of rice, sugar, and oil are relatively stable, and the goods are available,” he said. The Head of Bulog’s Central Java Regional Office, Sri Muniati, said that the stock of the Government Rice Reserve (CBP) in the region is in sufficient condition. If necessary, she said, Bulog is ready to release additional supplies through the food supply and price stabilisation programme (SPHP). “This step aims to maintain the public’s purchasing power. Supervision of the distribution of MinyaKita is also being strengthened, integrated with local governments and relevant authorities,” she said. Through this measure, she reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining the availability and affordability of food prices throughout Indonesia. “Synergy with authorities and local governments is the key to the success of price stabilisation. The stock of rice and MinyaKita is guaranteed to be sufficient,” she said. Copyright © ANTARA 2026
