Bulog Says West Java Rice Stocks Are Secure Until the 2027 Main Harvest
Bandung (ANTARA) – Perum Bulog’s West Java regional office has said rice supplies in the province are secure through the end of 2026 and into the 2027 main harvest, which is expected to begin in February.
“Broadly speaking, West Java’s rice stocks are more than sufficient to cover preparations for procurement during next year’s main harvest,” Nurman Susilo, head of Perum Bulog’s West Java regional office, said in a text message from Bandung on Saturday.
According to the latest data compiled by Bulog West Java, the office held 623,900 tonnes of rice as of 22 October 2026. Of this total, about 623,800 tonnes was government-assigned or subsidised rice (PSO), while the remaining approximately 107 tonnes was commercial rice.
The stocks are held in warehouses managed by Bulog’s eight branch offices in West Java: around 19,000 tonnes in Bandung, 24,800 tonnes in Cianjur and 176,700 tonnes in Cirebon.
A further 192,700 tonnes is in Indramayu, 99,700 tonnes in Karawang, 59,100 tonnes in Subang, 43,700 tonnes in Ciamis and 7,900 tonnes in Bogor.
Given the ample supply, Bulog’s West Java office urged the public not to panic or buy excessively.
“We hope the public will not panic, as stocks are sufficient,” he said.
Although rice stocks are adequate and its 2026 procurement of paddy and rice equivalent has reached 694,947 tonnes, or 100.7 per cent of its target, Bulog West Java said it would not halt purchases. It will continue stepping up procurement from local farmers through the end of December 2026 to help maintain prices at the producer level.
“Even though we have met the target, we will continue procuring farmers’ paddy until the end of December and maintain this commitment in the years ahead, particularly to support farmers in West Java,” Nurman added.
