Jakarta — Bulog’s President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said that the stock of rice for market stabilisation remains sufficient even though part of the warehouse reserves are being used for the allowances for civil servants (ASN), the TNI, and Polri. Ramdhani had previously proposed using rice for ASN allowances or natura in a parliamentary hearing with the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. ‘In our view, with the current extraordinarily good agricultural production, there is no problem,’ he said when approached at the Kuningan area, Jakarta, on Friday, 22 May 2026. He explained that the rice requirement for ASN has been covered through that scheme. The market will then only serve the demand for rice from the general public. ‘Even that will help control the market more easily,’ Ramdhani added. Ramdhani said the government had not yet decided on the scheme for implementing the rice allowance. The decision includes whether the rice allowance will be implemented gradually in some regions or immediately nationwide. At present, Bulog is still discussing the allocation of rice for natura allowances. The discussion is still at the planning stage. ‘But we already have that range, we are planning,’ Ramdhani said. He recalled his childhood when his parents would come home with natura. ‘We even had to go and fetch our parents at the bus pool, the place where we were picked up, and help carry rice, oil,’ he said.
