Bulog reports farmer paddy absorption has reached three million tonnes rice equivalent
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The President Director of Perum Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, stated that national absorption of farmers’ paddy has surpassed three million tonnes of rice equivalent, towards a target of four million tonnes for 2026.
“As of 3 June 2026, the realisation of paddy and rice absorption from farmers has reached 3,008,626 kg of rice equivalent, or approximately 3.01 million tonnes, which is about 75 per cent of the national target of 4 million tonnes set by the government,” said Rizal when confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He noted that this achievement represents a significant milestone in the history of national food procurement. In less than six months, Bulog has approached its annual target, which has traditionally been a major challenge in maintaining the balance between protecting farmers, strengthening government food reserves, and ensuring national food price stability.
“Perum Bulog has once again recorded a monumental achievement in executing the government’s mandate for the procurement of domestic paddy and rice,” he said.
He emphasised that this success is the result of collaborative efforts among all stakeholders, including farmers, central and regional governments, the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces), the Polri (Indonesian National Police), agricultural extension officers, rice mills, and the entire Bulog workforce who have worked tirelessly throughout the harvest season.
“This demonstrates the tangible presence of the state in ensuring that farmers’ harvests are well-absorbed while simultaneously strengthening national food security,” said Rizal.
According to him, this achievement proves that the government’s policy to maintain farmers’ dry paddy prices through the establishment of the Government Purchase Price (HPP) at Rp6,500 per kilogram is effective and capable of providing market certainty for farmers across Indonesia.
Furthermore, Rizal stated that the success of this absorption has had a direct impact on strengthening the Government Rice Reserve (CBP) stocks, which are currently at the highest level in the modern history of national food management.
Rice stocks managed by Bulog have exceeded five million tonnes, providing a strong guarantee of food availability to meet various government needs, ranging from price stabilisation and food assistance to disaster mitigation and managing market volatility.
Bulog remains optimistic that the procurement target of four million tonnes of rice equivalent for 2026 can be achieved even before the end of the year. With the harvest season still ongoing in several strategic regions, the state-owned food enterprise will continue to optimise the absorption of farmers’ harvests through increasingly strong synergy with all stakeholders.
Rizal added that this achievement serves as tangible evidence that Indonesia is becoming more robust towards sustainable food independence and security. Amidst various global challenges, Bulog serves as a state instrument to ensure that the hard work of farmers is optimally absorbed, farmer welfare is increased, and the food needs of the community remain guaranteed.

The success of reaching three million tonnes in absorption is not just a number, but a real manifestation of the state’s support for farmers and a shared commitment to achieving national food self-sufficiency,” said Rizal.
