Bulog Rejang Lebong distributes aid to flood-affected residents

Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu (ANTARA) - Perum Bulog’s Rejang Lebong branch, which oversees three regencies in Bengkulu Province, has distributed aid to residents affected by floods and landslides that occurred in Lebong Regency on 7 May 2026.

The Head of Perum Bulog’s Rejang Lebong branch, A. Musalim Yudha, stated when contacted in Rejang Lebong on Thursday that the aid comes from Perum Bulog’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programme, or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

He explained that the assistance represents Bulog’s concern for the community experiencing a natural disaster calamity.

The recent natural disaster in Lebong Regency, he said, has impacted community activities. In fact, some residents have faced difficulties in meeting their basic needs due to the floods and landslides.

“Therefore, Bulog strives to be present to help the community through the delivery of TJSL aid that can be directly utilised by the affected victims,” he clarified.

According to him, the aid provided cannot fully replace the community’s losses from the disaster. However, his side hopes that the assistance can help meet the basic needs of residents during the post-disaster recovery period.

He added that Bulog not only carries out its function of maintaining national food security but also has social responsibilities towards the community.

Previously, extreme weather in the form of heavy rain that hit the area from Wednesday (6/5) night until Thursday (7/5) morning had triggered floods and landslides in four sub-districts in Lebong Regency.

Although the floods temporarily inundated hundreds of houses, public facilities, and severed a suspension bridge, authorities have assured that there were no fatalities in the incident.
