Bulog records SPHP maize distribution realisation at 159.3 thousand tonnes
Perum Bulog has recorded that the realisation of the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation (SPHP) maize distribution has reached 159.3 thousand tonnes, or 66.05 per cent of the distribution target for 2026.
The President Director of Perum Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, stated that the company is continuing to strengthen the implementation of the SPHP maize programme as part of the government’s efforts to maintain the availability and affordability of feed maize for national livestock farmers.
“From the 2026 SPHP maize distribution target of 241,199,500 kilograms, or approximately 241.2 thousand tonnes, the realisation of purchases by cooperatives (farmers) has reached 159,318,150 kilograms, or 159.3 thousand tonnes, equivalent to 66.05 per cent of the target,” Rizal said in Jakarta on Monday.
According to him, this achievement indicates that SPHP maize continues to be utilised to support the feed requirements of livestock farmers.
With a recorded daily realisation of 259,650 kilograms, there remains approximately 81,881,350 kilograms, or 81.9 thousand tonnes, of the programme target that is being actively pushed towards completion.
In line with the implementation of this programme, the government has reaffirmed its support for the livestock sector through a policy to distribute 150,000 tonnes of SPHP feed maize until December 2026.
This policy was one of the conclusions of the Limited Coordination Meeting (Rakortas) at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs regarding the Management and Distribution of Government Food Reserves for 2026, held on 7 September 2026 and led by the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan.
The meeting minutes stated that the additional distribution is directed towards supporting the needs of medium-scale livestock farmers and MSMEs, particularly in anticipating potential declines in maize production due to dry season conditions.
Rizal emphasised that his agency is ready to execute the government’s policy by ensuring stock readiness and strengthening coordination so that feed maize can reach the intended farmers.
“The SPHP maize realisation, which has reached over 66 per cent, shows that this programme is ongoing and being utilised by farmers,” he said.
Consequently, the availability of affordable feed maize is expected to help maintain the sustainability of livestock businesses while supporting the stability of the food ecosystem from upstream to downstream.
Bulog will continue to coordinate with the National Food Agency (Bapanas), local governments, cooperatives, and relevant stakeholders to ensure the SPHP maize implementation is effective and well-targeted.
With the strengthening of distribution towards the end of the year, Bulog is committed to fulfilling the government’s mandate to maintain the availability of feed maize and support the sustainability of livestock businesses as a vital component in maintaining national food stability.
