State logistics agency Bulog has ordered the withdrawal of all MinyaKita cooking oil products produced by PT Kusuma Mukti Remaja (PT KMR) that have been distributed to the public, following the discovery of a diesel-like odour in a number of items. The move is a consumer protection measure pending the results of laboratory tests.

The decision was announced by Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani after a surprise inspection of PT KMR’s production facility in Karanganyar on Saturday (27/6), prompted by public complaints from the regencies of Karanganyar, Klaten, and Wonogiri regarding the quality of the MinyaKita products received.

During the inspection, the Bulog chief reviewed all stages of production, from raw material receipt and processing to packaging and storage, to ensure that quality, food safety, and hygiene standards were being applied. Initial findings indicated that products manufactured by PT KMR were suspected of emitting a diesel-like odour. Bulog subsequently ordered the withdrawal of all such products from circulation and mandated laboratory testing to scientifically determine the cause.

“Bulog will not tolerate products that fail to meet quality standards. We have ordered the immediate recall of all MinyaKita products produced by PT KMR that have been distributed. Laboratory testing will then be conducted to ascertain the cause and serve as the basis for further action,” Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani stated.

Bulog has assured that members of the public who have received MinyaKita products from PT KMR will be provided with replacements that meet quality standards. The company also reaffirmed its commitment to tightening supervision with partners across the entire supply chain to ensure that all food commodities distributed to the public are safe, of high quality, and fit for consumption.
