BULOG President Director Urges Rice Mills to Maintain National Rice Quality
The President Director of Perum BULOG, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, has emphasised that the success of managing the Government Rice Reserves (CBP) is determined not only by the volume of procurement but also by the consistency of all stakeholders in maintaining rice quality from the milling process through to storage and distribution.
“Rice quality is our shared responsibility. Large stocks must be accompanied by maintained quality. Therefore, I am calling on all milling partners to continuously improve processing standards, maintain quality consistency, and strengthen collaboration with BULOG so that the public receives rice of the best quality,” Rizal stated in a briefing on Sunday (2/8/2026).
Rizal made these remarks during a dialogue with rice milling entrepreneurs from the Greater Bandung area in Sumedang Regency, West Java, on Saturday (1/8). The forum serves as an effort to strengthen the synergy between BULOG and milling businesses to maintain national rice quality and achieve sustainable food security.
Ahmad Rizal reported that the rice stocks currently managed by BULOG have reached 5.4 million tonnes. Consequently, the company’s focus is not merely on procurement, but also on quality maintenance during storage and the distribution process.
During his working visit to West Java, Rizal also monitored a milling partner, CV Sarana Putra 2, in Sumedang Regency. The inspection involved observing the production process directly, from the receipt of paddy to milling and the final rice output, to ensure all processes meet the quality standards set by BULOG.
Rizal also conducted an inspection at the Kordon Branch Warehouse to ensure the readiness of the infrastructure for storing Government Rice Reserves. During the inspection, he checked the physical quality of the rice, warehouse cleanliness, storage systems, stock circulation, and the readiness of supporting facilities to ensure quality is preserved during storage.
“We are ensuring that the warehouse security system operates optimally. The security of BULOG warehouses is being strengthened through synergy with TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) and Polri (National Police) personnel to safeguard the Government Rice Reserves, ensuring that storage and distribution processes remain safe, orderly, and smooth,” Rizal added.
According to Rizal, collaboration between the government, BULOG, milling businesses, and the support of security forces is a vital foundation for maintaining national food supply stability. He expressed hope that communication with milling entrepreneurs would be strengthened to ensure the continuous improvement of national rice quality. Through this dialogue, Perum BULOG aims to build productive partnerships with all stakeholders to strengthen the management of Government Rice Reserves and support Indonesia’s sustainable food self-sufficiency and food security.
