Jakarta (ANTARA) - Perum Bulog is collaborating with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to strengthen the management and maintenance of government rice reserve stocks (CBP) in order to prevent pests, maintain product quality, and enhance sustainable national food security.

Perum Bulog’s President Director, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, stated that his company has established a partnership with BRIN to bolster the state-owned food company’s transformation in technology-based food supply chain management.

“Through synergy with BRIN, Bulog not only strengthens its role in ensuring food availability and stability but also promotes the utilisation of technological innovations to improve the overall quality of food logistics management,” Rizal said when contacted in Jakarta on Sunday.

He mentioned that together with BRIN, they have signed an Addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding on Research and Utilisation of Research Results related to Food and Agricultural Supply Chains. The signing was conducted by him and BRIN Head Arif Satria in Jakarta on Friday (27/3).

“The signing serves as a reinforcement of the strategic cooperation that has been established since 2024,” he said.

Through this addendum, Rizal explained, both parties are expanding the scope of cooperation to include the development of smart farming based on the latest technologies, including the optimisation of food processing infrastructure.

Additionally, it covers warehouse modernisation, food diversification, joint product dissemination, public communication, and the development of food networks.

Furthermore, Rizal stated that the cooperation is strengthened by adding a focus on the utilisation of food preservation technology as well as research and innovation in radiation technology for food preservation, as a concrete step in improving the quality, shelf life, and efficiency of national food distribution.

“With the signing of this addendum, Perum Bulog is committed to continuously strengthening cross-sector collaboration in supporting adaptive, innovative, and sustainable national food security,” Rizal added.

Meanwhile, BRIN Head Arif Satria conveyed that the collaboration is an important part of promoting research downstreaming so that it can be directly utilised by strategic sectors.

According to Arif, the collaboration between BRIN and Perum Bulog is a concrete step to ensure that research results do not stop at the laboratory.

“But can be implemented in reality to support a more modern, efficient, and sustainable national food system,” said Arif.
