BULOG Oversees Food Assistance Distribution in Karawang to Ensure Accuracy
The President Director of Perum BULOG, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhan, alongside the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Saan Mustopa, inspected the distribution of rice food assistance in Karangligar Village, West Telukjambe District, Karawang Regency, West Java.
During the activity, both officials oversaw the distribution of rice food assistance for the July, August, and September 2026 allocations. This step aims to ensure that the benefits of the assistance are received directly by the eligible members of the community.
Saan stated that the rice food assistance is a form of government attention to the public, particularly in facing weather conditions and lean seasons. The programme is expected to help lighten the community’s burden while ensuring that food needs remain met.
“This food assistance from the government is a stimulus and a form of care for the community, especially in facing prolonged weather conditions and lean seasons. The government is providing special attention to the beneficiaries, so it is hoped that this rice assistance can alleviate the people’s burden,” Saan said in a statement on Friday.
Saan added that the rice food assistance for the July, August, and September 202<0xA0>6 allocation is provided at a rate of 10 kilograms per beneficiary each month. The assistance will also continue for the October, November, and December 2026 allocations.
In its implementation, supervision is carried out through synergy between local governments, Babinsa (territorial defence), Bhabinkamtibmas (community police), and relevant agencies. This is done to ensure that the assistance is received and utilised according to its intended purpose.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Rizal emphasised BULOG’s readiness to support the government through the distribution of food assistance to communities across various regions in Indonesia. BULOG also continues to ensure that the distribution proceeds smoothly and reaches the correct targets.
“BULOG continues to ensure that the implementation of food assistance distribution runs well and is well-targeted. This food assistance is a manifestation of the state’s presence in maintaining food security while providing support to the community,” he said.
Regarding the progress of food assistance distribution in West Java, the rice food assistance for the July to September 2026 allocation covers 6,039,551 beneficiaries, with a total allocation of 181,186.53 tonnes of rice. Specifically in Karawang Regency, this programme reaches 249,725 beneficiaries with a total allocation of 7,491.75 tonnes of rice.
In West Telukjambe District, food assistance is allocated to 3,225 beneficiaries with a total of 96.75 tonnes of rice. One of the distribution points inspected was Karangligar Village, which includes 377 beneficiaries and a total allocation of 11.31 tonnes of rice for the three-month period.
Based on data as of 16 September 2026, the realisation of food assistance distribution in West Java for the February-March allocation has reached 100 per cent, while the July-September allocation has reached 61.98 per cent.
On the other hand, domestic rice procurement has reached 641,343 tonnes, or 92.35 per cent of the 694,432-tonne target, with the Government Rice Reserve (CBP) stock recorded at 678,068 tonnes.
Through stock readiness, domestic rice absorption, and synergy with central and local governments, BULOG continues to support the implementation of food assistance distribution. These efforts are undertaken to ensure that food assistance is received by the community while strengthening sustainable food security and self-sufficiency.
For information, the inspection was also conducted alongside the Regent of Karawang, Aep Syaepuloh, as well as members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and the Karawang Regency Government.
