Bulog North Sumatra to Distribute Food Aid to 1.73 Million Beneficiaries This Week

The State Logistics Agency (Perum Bulog) Regional Office for North Sumatra has confirmed that the distribution of food aid in the form of rice to 1.73 million beneficiary families (KPM) will commence this week as an effort to help meet the community’s food needs. North Sumatra Perum Bulog Regional Leader Budi Cahyanto stated that the food aid is being provided for three months at once, covering July, August, and September 2026, with an allocation of 10 kilograms of rice per KPM each month. “Each beneficiary receives 30 kilograms at once for three months. Distribution will begin this week,” Budi said in Medan on Tuesday. He noted that Bulog, together with district and city governments in North Sumatra, is currently checking the quality and quantity of the rice to be distributed to the beneficiaries. “The distribution of food aid for 1.73 million KPM involves a total of approximately 52,000 tonnes of rice,” he said. His team is also currently packaging the rice as part of the preparations for distributing the food aid. “To strengthen rice stocks in warehouses, we continue to absorb grain from farmers in the region and request additional supply from the central government,” he stated. Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) and Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman said the rice food aid is one of the social safety nets to maintain people’s purchasing power, strengthen national food stability, and help meet families’ food needs.
