Bulog North Sumatra distributes food aid to 485,880 beneficiaries
This year we will carry out artificial insemination for approximately 3,000 livestock. We target at least 2,000 to succeed.
Medan (ANTARA) – Perum Bulog North Sumatra Regional Office has distributed food aid consisting of 20kg of rice and four litres of Minyakita cooking oil to 485,880 beneficiaries in the region.
“The food aid distribution has reached approximately 27.66% of the total 1,756,846 beneficiaries in North Sumatra,” said Budi Cahyanto, Regional Head of Perum Bulog North Sumatra, in Medan on Monday.
Budi said the food aid distributed for February-March 2026 amounted to 9,717 tonnes of rice and 1,943,520 litres of Minyakita cooking oil.
He added that several regions that have completed receiving the food aid include Sibolga City, Padangsidimpuan City, Tanjungbalai City, Pematangsiantar City, Karo Regency, and Pakpak Bharat Regency.
“Due to the schedule, our target is to complete by the end of June 2026, especially as rice packaging is not an issue,” Budi said.
He added that this includes remote, border, and outermost (3T) areas such as Nias. According to him, Gunungsitoli City and South Nias Regency are 98% complete, with other regencies remaining.
Budi expressed hope that the food aid would help meet community needs and support provincial and district-level Food Inflation Control Teams (TPID) in managing food inflation.
He said the programme also acts as an economic stimulus to support price stabilisation, as part of consumer needs are met through the aid.
Budi stated that Bulog has prepared approximately 35,000 tonnes of rice and seven million litres of Minyakita cooking oil to meet the food aid allocation.
The number of food aid recipients this year has increased compared to the October-November 2025 period, which recorded 844,696 beneficiaries.
