Bulog North Sumatra distributes 16,187 tonnes of SPHP rice to stabilise prices

Perum Bulog North Sumatra Regional Office has distributed 16,187 tonnes of Food Supply and Price Stabilisation (SPHP) rice to several partners to stabilise rice prices in the market.

“The distribution of SPHP rice was carried out during the period from March to 5 June 2026,” stated Budi Cahyanto, Head of the Bulog North Sumatra Regional Office, in Medan on Saturday. Budi noted that this distribution has reached approximately 33 per cent of the total target of 49,043 tonnes of SPHP rice planned through December 2026.

Furthermore, he mentioned that the distribution of SPHP rice saw an increase during the Eid al-Adha and Vesak Day holidays in late May 2026. During these holidays, the office supplied up to 350 tonnes of SPHP rice per day, an increase from the usual 250 tonnes per day, to all partners across North Sumatra.

“The quota for a single partner or market outlet has increased from two tonnes to four tonnes to ensure the availability of this staple food,” he said. According to Budi, the increased distribution to various partners ensures that the availability of SPHP rice in the market remains secure.

He urged the public to avoid excessive purchasing, as the supply of SPHP rice is being continuously made available in stages through the market and official retail networks. He also emphasised that the distribution of SPHP rice remains strictly adherent to the maximum retail price (HET) of Rp13,100 per kilogram. To strengthen the distribution of SPHP rice, Bulog North Sumatra continues to collaborate through the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) programme alongside the Military District Command (Kodim) and the Regional Police (Polres).
