Medan (ANTARA) - Perum Bulog’s North Sumatra Regional Office will deploy teams to procure dry harvested paddy from farmers in its operational areas during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday. “Even during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, we will still deploy teams to procure paddy from farmers,” said the Head of Perum Bulog North Sumatra, Budi Cahyanto, in Medan on Sunday. Budi stated that the paddy procurement teams are prepared to anticipate farmers who wish to sell their harvested produce to Bulog during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday. Currently, he noted, paddy is drying relatively quickly because most areas in North Sumatra are entering the dry season. Therefore, he urged farmers not to worry about selling their paddy to Bulog during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday, as procurement will continue. “We encourage farmers who are about to harvest to sell their paddy to Bulog at a price of Rp6,400 per kilogram at the farm level, or Rp6,700 per kilogram at the milling level. We are ready to buy,” he said. Budi mentioned that up to 18 March 2026, his office has procured 12,242 tons of dry harvested paddy from farmers in North Sumatra. “From the total of 12,242 tons of paddy, when converted to equivalent rice, it amounts to around 6,121 tons,” he stated. The procurement of dry harvested paddy comes from several districts in North Sumatra, including Langkat Regency, Deli Serdang Regency, Serdang Bedagai Regency, Simalungun Regency, and Batu Bara Regency. He added that the largest procurements come from the areas of Langkat, Deli Serdang, Simalungun, and Serdang Bedagai.
